Turning the Tide Summit Poster

Critical times require collective action. On May 26 – 28th, the National Day Laborer Organizing Network and national partners and allies invite you to participate in a three day Summit to Turn the Tide from the criminalization of migrant communities to a world of dignity and respect.

Since our last gathering in September in New Orleans, we’ve seen the expansion of police-ICE collaboration and the incredible growth of community resistance along side it. From Nashville to Los Angeles, from coast to coast, a migrant rights movement rooted in organizing for legalization with dignity, human and civil rights. Our direction and strength will be determined by our collaboration, resilience and creativity. Join us as we come together to celebrate our successes and strategize to craft solutions to move forward and amplify and strengthen our movement.

Topics will include:
Introductory and advanced trainings on a wide range of issues that relate to the wave of criminalization through police-ICE collaboration and hate legislation, such as:

  • Barrio Defense Committees
  • Money Trail to Your Jail: Understanding where money comes from to fund migration detention in your community
  • Unfunding Hate: Boycotts and Corporate Campaigns
  • Case Study: How domestic violence groups build relationships inside the criminal justice system
  • Messaging to reframe the debate
  • How to Organize Church Congregations

Strategy sessions highlighting proactive campaigns and cross-cutting strategies emerging and in motion, such as:

  • Proactive National Worker Rights Campaigns: Power Act and Caring Across Generations

  1. Jusselia Molina says:

There is a group of student activists from Swarthmore would really love to attend this conference but the registration fee of $100 is a bit too steep for us as full time students. Is there a student discount/fee to make it more affordable? Thanks!
Hope to hear from you soon.
